City awards $3.56 million contract for 800 North waterline, drainage and roadway reconstruction

Pleasant Grove City Council voted unanimously on Feb. 17 to award the 800 North Area Waterline, Drainage and Roadway Reconstruction Project to Condie Construction Co., LLC with a base bid of $3,556,724.10. Public Works Director Neal Winterton told the council 14 bids were received and the winning bid came in well below the engineer's estimate.
"I was very pleased with the bids as the engineer's estimate was approximately $4.5 million," Winterton said, recommending the award. He told the council Condie is a reputable contractor with a track record on similar projects and that change orders may occur for unforeseen conditions or scope changes, but staff judged the bid to be solid. The council authorized the mayor to sign the notice of award and notice to proceed once final contract documents are approved.
