Library Program Director Stacy Martineau told the council the proposed pavilion matters because it would accommodate larger programs and provide outdoor programming options for families who cannot afford other attractions. "With an outside venue, it is possible to accommodate more attendees and create meaningful memories," Martineau said.
Library Director Sheri Britsch added that the planned space is more than a pavilion; it is designed as a "grass bowl" and will be called Storybook Square. Staff noted the project has been discussed for three years and would increase the library's capacity to host family-friendly programs; funding and schedule will be taken up as part of the city's one-time General Fund project discussion.
