Treasurer Leslie Cummings told the Town of Nutter Fort council Oct. 22 that staff are piloting LED streetlights on Buckhannon Pike and Pennsylvania Avenue to assess light levels and operating costs. She said replacing 200‑watt fixtures with 130‑watt LEDs would save about $4.43 per light per month and replacing 100‑watt fixtures with 50‑watt LEDs would save about $2.93 per light per month.
Cummings gave the council counts for the current inventory—126 of the 100‑watt lights and eight 200‑watt lights—and estimated total monthly savings of roughly $400 if the town converts those fixtures. The treasurer said other fixture types exist and would be evaluated after confirming the lower‑watt LEDs provide adequate illumination during the pilot. Council did not vote on funding or a schedule; the item remained informational pending further staff research.
