The commission approved a temporary use agreement with New Mexico Gas Company to allow work on a city-owned industrial parcel that will support infrastructure improvements. Staff said negotiations added indemnification language after the company requested additional time to consider preexisting site contamination concerns, and that the price approximates private-market rates for a similar land lease. "The price is about where you would be in the private market for that size piece of property over that period of time," staff told commissioners, adding the use would "improve the infrastructure and gas service to the area."
The agreement location was described as north of the plant and across from the water tower and booster station; commissioners asked no substantive follow-up questions and voted in favor of Resolution 2026-096.
