City staff seeks RFP to create on-call vendor lists for plumbing, HVAC, electrical and construction

Leslie Bolt, a city staff member, asked the commission to authorize advertising for on-call service contracts to speed procurement for routine public-works needs. "What this does is it kind of frees up our procurement process, still keeping us in line with the state procurement requirements, but allowing us to kind of gather some on call services that would be beneficial for the city," Bolt said.
Bolt outlined that the approach would not guarantee work or a minimum but would provide a list of vendors that staff could call to obtain faster service. She said the recommended contracts would be three years with options for two additional one-year extensions and that the advertisement period would typically be 21–30 days. Commissioners and staff discussed using the vendor list for grant-funded projects and allowing sufficient advertisement time so all interested vendors could apply.
