Council President Robin G. Brandgard presented the Order of the Van Buren Elm on July 13 to Ed Rudolphi in recognition of 37 years of service in Plainfield’s Department of Public Works and Building Department. Brandgard said the award honors “extraordinary service” and the systems Rudolphi helped establish during a significant period of growth.
Rudolphi, who spoke at the podium, recounted projects that included police and fire stations, the recreation center and work with Plainfield schools, and thanked staff and colleagues for their support. “Retirement is not the end of the road. It's the beginning of a new highway,” he said. The council and attendees applauded and took photographs following the presentation.
