The council approved an engagement letter authorizing the city manager to retain Rosenstein, Fist & Ringgold to perform the duties of interim city attorney while the city conducts a search for a permanent replacement.
Staff explained the firm was recommended by municipal organizations and that Greg Leffler was present to introduce the firm and answer questions. Leffler described the firm’s focus on political-subdivision work and said he would be the primary contact while a team of attorneys would support the city.
Council also discussed and approved a hiring process for the permanent city attorney position. Staff proposed posting the job on July 28, a first resume review on Aug. 24 (a council meeting night), interviews targeted Sept. 8–11, and a potential special call to discuss a job offer on Sept. 14 with a possible appointment by Sept. 28. Staff recommended keeping applications open until the position is filled.
