The Weaverville Town Council unanimously approved its consent agenda at the July 27 regular meeting, which included minutes, a monthly tax report, and several department budget amendments. The council packet shows $4,846,660.26 in tax collections through the end of June, a 99.89% collection rate, and insurance proceeds of $232,500 applied toward a new fire engine priced at $1,054,994.
Town staff explained budget items for police school resource officer reimbursements and upcoming fire engine financing. “The town received an additional $36,666 in June as a reimbursement for the second 0.5 of our SRO duties,” the presiding officer read from the packet, and the manager noted that the engine has arrived at the Asheville shop and is having equipment mounted. Staff also described ADA improvements downtown and said some sidewalks and parking configurations were adjusted this fiscal year to improve access.
The consent vote closed that portion of the agenda so council could move into the manager’s reports and more detailed department briefings. The meeting record shows a later, separate motion to remove one consent item (item F) for consideration, which council handled before final adoption.
