Kimball approves accepting clean brick, clay tile and concrete at rubble site; reduces voucher fee

The Kimball City Council reviewed guidance from DANR that clean concrete, red brick and clay tile may be accepted at the city rubble site provided the material contains no wood, insulation or other contaminants. On June 19 the council voted to allow hauling of those clean demolition materials to the rubble site at no charge, with the Tri-County Landfill voucher for additional materials reduced from $500 to $250.
Councilmembers emphasized the requirement that materials dropped at the rubble site be clean of unauthorized debris to remain in compliance with the city’s licensing requirements. To assist monitoring and control of access, the council approved replacing the padlock at the rubble site and distributing new keys only to the city office, city shop and to John Wesiflock.
The changes are intended to provide a disposal option for clean demolition materials while reducing the municipal cost of landfill vouchers. Council directed monitoring of the site to ensure compliance with the no-contaminants condition.
