A council member explained the change as a modest revenue measure after noting that many small public airports struggle to cover operating costs. “Overnight's $10 a night. Monthly is $35 a month, and an annual is $300 per year,” the council member said during debate. Council members discussed whether to delay implementation; the presenter said existing tie-down occupancy made immediate implementation reasonable and that fees could help address long-term maintenance and hangar demand.
Because the item was a resolution the council conducted a roll call vote; the record shows Rochelle Topham, David Labarton, John Dean and David Burton (read aloud) voting aye and the resolution carried. The council did not enact landing fees at this time.
Council members said the fees are consistent with other nearby airports and are intended to recover modest operating costs rather than be a large revenue source.
