Kimball to pay to replace one known lead service line in Main Street project
Summary

At the June 19 meeting the Kimball City Council voted to have the city pay to replace the one known lead water service line identified in the Main Street project. The motion, made by Councilmember Harold Bickner and seconded by Janene Wingert, directed replacement "from the main up to the structure" as recommended by state guidance; the motion carried unanimously.
Council members noted the decision applies to the one known line and that if additional lead lines are discovered during construction, the council will consider those cases separately. The council also discussed related Main Street items, including sidewalk warranty options and boulevard design, but tabled those matters pending further details and engineering input.
Mayor Gough said he will follow up with Banner Engineering and District III on options and financing availability for other street-design issues raised by residents. The decision to replace the identified lead line is recorded in the June 19 minutes as approved by motion.
