River Ridge terminates Laz’s Lawn, hires GulfScapes at higher cost

District staff raised performance concerns with Laz’s Lawn Service, and proposed terminating the current landscape contract and engaging GulfScapes Landscape Maintenance Services. GulfScapes' proposal totals $58,500 annually, roughly $13,000 above the district’s $45,000 budgeted amount; staff said withheld payments from Laz’s Lawn and unassigned funds could offset the extra cost. GreenScapes was not an option because they declined to execute the CDD contract.
On a motion by Kurt Blumenthal, seconded by Bob Schultz, the board unanimously authorized termination of Laz’s Lawn Service and engagement of GulfScapes, effective immediately. Management was authorized to execute the termination and new contract.
