Residents ask River Ridge board to consider Seaside-style regrading to ease Lake 8 flooding

An Oak Run resident told the River Ridge CDD board that rainwater pooling near Lake 8 is slow to recede and is suspected of getting under foundations; the district engineer said regrading similar to recent Seaside work could address the issue and the board will consider it in the FY 2025/2026 budget.
Rich Batterberry, speaking for Oak Run residents, urged the River Ridge Community Development District board to consider remedial work near Lake 8 after rainwater pooling from the monument to halfway down Lake 8 has been slow to recede. Batterberry told the board that one homeowner incurred significant costs trying to mitigate water coming up through the floor.
District Engineer Charlie Krebs reviewed the scope of work completed at Seaside and said because the Lake 8 area was never re-graded, completing similar regrading could address the standing-water and foundation concerns. Chair Bob Schultz said the matter would be considered during the Fiscal Year 2025/2026 budget process.
