Council awards $52,408 audiovisual contract for Community Center using grant and TOT funds

The council voted unanimously to award a $52,408.34 contract for audiovisual improvements at the Bandon Community Center (the Barn) to Good Vibrations Audio Visual with Copeland Electric as the electrical contractor.
Christine, the city librarian, told the council the city received a $50,000 grant from the Bridal Dunes Charitable Foundation and that Good Vibrations submitted a bid of $43,972.15 for AV equipment and installation while Copeland Electric proposed $8,436.19 for electrical work. Christine said the total project cost is estimated at $52,408.34 and staff recommended the combined teams as "best aligned with project needs and available grant funding." She said some flexibility in equipment (for example, choosing a flat-screen TV instead of a drop-down screen) might reduce costs and allow funds to be applied toward additional microphones.
Council members asked about potential drywall patching and change orders; staff said a separate drywall contractor would be engaged if needed and estimated patching costs of "no more than a couple grand". A motion to award the contract including Copeland Electric was made and seconded; the council voted aye and the motion passed unanimously.
Next steps: staff will finalize contracts, schedule installation and coordinate any minor drywall repairs to minimize downtime during the Barn's use schedule.
