Superintendent thanks staff, notes retiree death and honors Chief Tracy

The superintendent opened the report by thanking teachers, support staff and administrators for a successful end of the school year and previewed a voluntary literacy institute featuring national speaker Chris Tavani to support teacher development. "We have a literacy institute next week... she will be coming over and spending the week with our teachers," the superintendent said.
The superintendent also reported the death of a long-serving custodian and read a prepared letter honoring Chief Tracy, calling attention to Tracy's years of service to RSU 18 and the community. The board discussed possibly celebrating Chief Tracy at the end of the meeting and noted a small commemorative plaque prepared in recognition of that service.
