The Park Rapids City Council voted unanimously on Feb. 24 to approve Resolution #2026-33, allowing a gymnastics club to operate a new recreational facility north of Century School. Ben Oleson told the council the Planning Commission recommended approval with conditions intended to protect city infrastructure and coordinate safety measures with the school district.
Oleson said the recommended conditions include rewording a provision to protect the city from significant road damage during construction and ensuring the gymnastics club and the school district coordinate with city staff so students can cross Monico safely. The commission initially considered limiting hours (No. 8) but later removed that restriction so early-morning activities and walking-track use would not be inhibited. The motion to approve was made by Councilmember Little, seconded by Councilmember Engholm, and carried unanimously.
