Council orders replacement of 300‑block Main Street sidewalks; SiteWorks to cover damage

Councilmember Shelly Janish moved the action and the council approved it by roll-call vote 4-1, with Councilmember Harold Bickner opposing. During discussion, Banner noted that tree roots and other organic matter under the sidewalk area will be addressed before new sidewalk installation. DuWayne Moore and Clint Walsh provided on-site input during the deliberations.
The motion clarifies responsibility for the damaged sections and instructs remediation of subgrade issues before pouring new concrete. No additional funding or special assessment was recorded in the minutes; the motion addressed the contractor’s responsibility for costs identified as damage caused during SiteWorks’ work.
The decision follows prior Main Street work and a related council discussion about warranty and product selection for sidewalk protection. The council later approved a curb/seal product for sidewalks (Pencure) at no additional bid cost.
