Council adopts 2026 county salary ordinance (6–1), approves solid waste salary ordinances, closes community foundation grant and acknowledges treasurer's report

The Harrison County Council approved the 2026 county salary ordinance in a 6–1 vote at its Dec. 22 meeting. Councilman Richard Gerdon moved to approve the ordinance; Councilman Jake Blackman seconded. Councilwoman Holli Castetter cast the lone dissenting vote. The minutes record the adoption and the roll-call style tally of 6 ayes and 1 nay.
Immediately following, the council approved the 2025 and 2026 Harrison County Solid Waste District salary ordinances by a unanimous vote of 7–0. The council also approved a letter to the Harrison County Community Foundation to close an outstanding 2025 community fund grant: the original grant request was $5,800,000.00, $4,809,757.80 has been paid to date, and the minutes state the unpaid balance of $990,242.20 will remain in the community fund for future grant opportunities. The council acknowledged receipt of the November county treasurer's monthly report and adjourned at 7:58 p.m.
