Youth services staff departures prompt programming adjustments at Oconee County libraries

Library Director Blair told trustees that Emily Johnson, the system's youth services librarian, and her assistant DJ Wharton are leaving at the end of the week and that the system will be recruiting a new youth services librarian. "Emily Johnson. She's our current youth services librarian. She'll be leaving at the end of the week. DJ Wharton also is leaving at the end of the week," Blair said.

Blair said the departures will require reassigning duties and may change the fall programming schedule; story times normally pause in August and resume in September, and staff discussed ensuring the incoming youth-services librarian spends time at each branch to become familiar with local operations. The board recognized the departing staff's contributions and discussed continuity measures while recruitment proceeds.
