The Anoka County Board recognized the Midwest Regional Forensics Laboratory on July 28 after the lab earned its seventh consecutive Project Foresight Maximus award, which the board said honors laboratories operating at 90% or better of peak efficiency.
Commissioner Braastad introduced Scott Ford, the laboratory director, and Anoka County Sheriff Brad Wise to accept recognition. Sheriff Wise highlighted staff contributions and a culture of excellence, saying the lab’s work is “a big deal” to victims and the public. Ford emphasized that the award reflects the work of lab staff rather than individual leaders: “This isn’t about me. It’s about the lab staff that are back there working cases… solving crimes, exonerating innocent people.”
Board members applauded and noted the lab’s role in major investigations, including last year’s landfill search. The board thanked lab leadership and staff for their work and recognized the lab as the only recipient in Minnesota for this award year.
