City-backed bridal care shelter granted variance for fence at East Raymond Street

Kevin Montgomery of KRM Architecture, representing the city and Business and Neighborhood Services, said the bridal care shelter project at 5001 East Raymond Street is complete and recently opened. "The project is complete and recently opened," Montgomery said, and described vandalism that prompted a request to continue a black vinyl-coated chain-link fence about 40 to 50 feet off the curb between the sidewalk and building.
Staff recommended approval of both the site-plan petition and the variance; the hearing examiner recommended approval of APP011 and granted VAR008 subject to the site plan and adopted findings of fact. The examiner said the petitions would be placed on the MDC docket for July 15 for formal action by the Metropolitan Development Commission.
