The board approved the appointment of Esme Brenniscus to the Indianapolis Greenways Development Committee at its June 23 meeting. Daniel Hedgeland of the Department of Public Works said Esme ‘‘uses Greenways on a regular basis’’ and has professional experience in engagement and applied social research that would help prioritize projects and scale programs.
In remarks to the board, the appointee said, "I use Greenways almost every single day," and described how trails touch daily life — commuting, errands, photography, and mental health benefits. She said she lives in Riverside and wants the same level of access and trail quality across neighborhoods. The motion to appoint Brenniscus carried with a voice vote.
