Crooks Development Corporation sells land; council eyes commercial buildout on annexed acres

Chair announced that the Crooks Development Corporation (CDC) secured a sale of land between the New Light Industrial Park and Wintergreen Acres at the full asking price and expects closing before Dec. 1. The proceeds will allow CDC to pay outstanding bills and reimburse advance expenditures for water, sewer and site work, the chair said.
Council also discussed a 36-acre tract annexed three years earlier near the interstate; staff reported positive negotiations with a developer and said there is a good chance that 12–14 acres of that tract could be developed next year for a sales-tax-oriented business that would draw customers off the interstate and increase local sales-tax revenue.
