Council tables proposed water/sewer hookup fee changes to November

Council considered Resolution 2024-29, a proposal to revise water and sewer hookup fees to more closely align with charges by Sioux Falls. Staff explained the change was intended to match another city’s structure but council members raised concerns about losing revenue, meter-size subsidies and how future interconnect agreements could affect fees.
“Let’s table it and look at it next meeting in November,” Chair said; the motion to table carried by voice vote. Members directed staff to revisit the fee structure with additional details, including meter-size impacts and comparisons to Sioux Falls charges, before taking a final vote.
