Anaconda housing authority keeps PHA status as RAD closing nears; construction likely in March

The Housing Authority of the City of Anaconda reported that the RAD (Rental Assistance Demonstration) closing is on track for next week and that the authority will retain its PHA program status rather than terminate it, a change the Secretary said is likely to last about two years and could make the authority eligible for additional funding.
Secretary Kaitlin Leary told commissioners that a Notice to Proceed with construction will be issued immediately after closing, and that construction is likely to begin in March. The board reviewed initial construction plans and display samples of finish and color options for flooring, counters, and cabinets.
The decision to retain PHA status preserves certain program relationships while the RAD conversion proceeds. The Authority scheduled its Annual Public Meeting for April in light of the program status decision. No formal vote was required on the RAD update during the Feb. 24 meeting; the report was informational and staff said they are preparing to execute next steps after closing.
