HNW project manager explains delays as council weighs $232,500 in liquidated damages

"We had quite a few delays that were just outside of our control," Reneck said, describing snow, soft spots in embankments and subsequent rework that pushed schedule milestones. He said some subcontractors did not complete punch list items until months after initial turnover and attributed part of the delay to global equipment lead times.
The city’s consultant confirmed the project has liquidated damages assessed at $232,500 and that final documents have been prepared and forwarded to H&W (contractor). The consultant said the city would invite the contractor for a conversation but did not expect a resolution at this meeting; council members asked staff to seek an official written response and follow up at the next meeting.
