Council approves revised gas service agreement implementation and raises hydrant meter deposit

On utility fees, staff argued the hydrant meter deposit had been too low since implementation in 2021 and recommended raising the minimum to $1,500 because replacement parts can cost $1,500–$2,000 depending on equipment. “Our hydrant meter deposit was always too low … It should just be increased to a minimum of $1,500,” Tobias said. The council moved and approved the deposit increase.
No specific contract text was adopted at the meeting; staff will present the reviewed gas service agreement for administrative implementation and will update fee schedules to reflect the new hydrant meter deposit.
