She said curriculum teams reviewed standards three times during the past year and recommended the SHAPE standards because the CDC guidance previously used has been archived and is no longer maintained.
Board members asked about the review cadence; Julia said teams met three times last year. The board approved the recommendation to adopt the listed standards for 2026-27 by voice vote.
The district will implement the updated IT standards in middle- and high-school IT courses and will align health instruction to the SHAPE framework in physical education and human growth and development units. The action was recorded as an approval motion at the meeting.
