Resident reports $4,500 phishing scam; DRB to consider redacting personal contact info from Town website

During public comment Grace Knight described a phishing email asking that $4,500 be wired to proceed with an application and said the message used personal information that she found in PDFs posted on the Town’s website.
Knight said she wired the $4,500 on April 21, 2026, then discovered the email was fraudulent and reported it to the Windsor County Sheriff. She told the board she had also filled out forms on the FBI website and contacted the Attorney General’s Office. Knight asked the board to reduce the personal contact information posted with application packets and suggested listing fees on the second page of applications instead of posting contact numbers and addresses.
Board members expressed sympathy and discussed practical steps: Michael Todd said he planned to meet with Brandon Gulnick about the matter and invited the Knights to join; Andrea Murray said the Town should adopt a policy to redact contact information and limit the information posted in meeting warnings. The DRB requested adding Rules & Procedures and protections for personal privacy to a future agenda.
