Council approves T‑Mobile lease amendment to place generator on city property

The Jerome City Council approved an amendment to the lease with T‑Mobile to allow placement of a generator on city property in the parking lot. City Engineer Tyson Carpenter summarized prior negotiations and said T‑Mobile representatives had indicated that "the generator proposed by AT&T could not meet T‑Mobile’s requirements," prompting the search for an alternate location toward the west end of the lot near the dumpster.
Carpenter explained staff looked at options to minimize parking impacts, including shifting and restriping stalls to recover a lost space and relocating an ADA stall if necessary. Building Official Kortnie Kent said a permit for the AT&T generator had not been issued. Councilman Bryan Craig moved to approve the lease amendment and Councilman Dale Ross seconded; the motion passed unanimously.
Council discussion noted the potential for an AT&T lease amendment, proximity of two generators, and the city’s responsibility for restriping and ADA compliance.
