Councilors used the reports portion of the meeting to update colleagues on a range of topics. One councilor said the public arts committee closed its request for proposals for Don Davis Park murals and will soon select winners and plan a year-end public arts celebration. Another councilor said discussions with Northwest Natural have continued about expanding hours for the open area near the natural gas tank but that the company needs security staff to expand weekday and weekend hours.
Councilors also noted the mayor was elected vice chair of the Council of Governments and that the city continues outreach on food-pod vs. food-truck rules in different special districts (Nye Beach, South Beach and the Bayfront). Staff said outreach materials and stakeholder processes are planned for the trolley feasibility study, and councilors asked staff to provide a status update on any plans for food pods or truck rules at a future meeting. Councilors thanked staff for recent paving work, noting the improved appearance of neighborhoods.
