Committee approves reduced continuing-education requirement for private evaluators in Sexual Offender Management Board rules

The Senate Judiciary & Rules Committee approved Docket No. 57-0101-2501 to amend rules of the Idaho Sexual Offender Management Board. Nancy Volle, Program Manager, said the rule accomplishes two goals: it reduces regulatory burden for private, licensed evaluators and treatment providers and removes duplicative language between the rule and incorporated-by-reference documents. She told the committee these changes lower continuing-education credits from "forty to thirty." Copies of the incorporated reference documents were provided to the committee.
Vice Chairman Shippy and Ms. Volle emphasized the importance of making the change effective upon sine die so that the reduced continuing-education requirements already in place under a temporary rule would remain in effect without separate dispensation. Senator Wintrow moved to approve the docket with an early effective date; Senator Lent seconded and the motion carried by voice vote.
