Maple Valley council approves consent calendar including utility franchises and a budget amendment

At its June 8 meeting, the Maple Valley City Council unanimously approved the consent calendar, which bundled routine minutes, vendor payments and a set of resolutions and ordinances. The record shows approval of payments totaling $860,562.01 and the passage of several items including:
• Resolution R-26-2063 (changes to the Community Grants Program); • Resolution R-26-2071 (Amendment 3 to the Professional Services Agreement with Exeltech Consulting Inc. for S‑18 Project); • Resolution R-26-2072 (a Discretionary Work Request with King County Road Services for the 2026 Pavement Overlay Program); • Ordinance O-26-887 (amending the 2025–2026 Budget); • Franchise ordinances granting ten‑year nonexclusive franchises to Soos Creek Water & Sewer District, Covington Water District and Cedar River Water & Sewer District; and • Ordinance O-26-892 granting Ripple Fiber (Hyperfiber of Washington, LLC) a nonexclusive master permit agreement to install telecommunications infrastructure in city rights‑of‑way.
Deputy Mayor Didem Pierson moved to approve the consent calendar and Councilmember Les Burberry seconded; the motion carried 6‑0. Many of the ordinances on the consent calendar were routine franchise or permit approvals and will be implemented under the standard terms indicated in each ordinance.
