Selectboard awards sand, gravel and contractor rate agreements for FY27

The Selectboard approved the Highway Department’s procurement recommendations on April 13, accepting Twin State Sand & Gravel’s bid for 3/4" gravel at $11.00 per cubic yard and splitting winter sand purchases between Twin State ($12.75/cu yd) and D&D Excavating ($13.50/cu yd), with quantities to be determined by Road Foreman Mike Spackman. The board also authorized using Daniel Lesnick Excavating (DLX) as the town’s primary contractor and Murphy & Sons Construction as the secondary contractor for equipment and emergency response work during the coming year.
Spackman explained the town uses different sand types from suppliers and mixes them in-house for better roadway results. The approvals allow the Highway Department to move forward with seasonal procurement and have contractors available for larger projects and FEMA/state-assisted emergency responses.
