State schedules notices as West Windsor’s local option taxes take effect July 1

The Vermont Department of Taxes will implement West Windsor’s newly adopted local option taxes on rooms and meals & alcohol starting July 1, 2026; the department will notify affected businesses in May.
Town Administrator Matt Frederick reported an update on the implementation of recently adopted local option taxes (LOT) for rooms and for meals & alcohol. The Vermont Department of Taxes informed the town that the LOTs will go into effect in West Windsor on July 1, 2026 and that notices to affected businesses will be sent in May.
Selectboard members were informed that the Department of Taxes will handle business notifications; the board did not take additional action at the meeting but will monitor implementation and business outreach as the July 1 effective date approaches.
