Selectboard approves Vermont Youth Cycling race at Ascutney Outdoors for Aug. 22

The West Windsor Selectboard unanimously approved the Vermont Youth Cycling League’s application to hold the 2026 Vermont Youth Cycling Race at Ascutney Outdoors and surrounding trails on Saturday, August 22. Rachel Cohen, Director of the Vermont Youth Cycling League, told the board the event will use the same course and plans as in prior years and that organizers are again offering the option of on-site camping the night before.
Cohen said there were no issues at previous races and that all necessary signoffs are in place. "There were no issues noted from the previous events and all signoffs are in place," she said. The approval, moved by Mark Harley and seconded by John Brodie, was unanimous. The event is expected to involve volunteers and standard safety/coordination with emergency services, as has been the practice in past years.
