Library board wins Selectboard sign-off for HUD accessibility grant letter

Michael Epstein, chair of the Mary L. Blood Memorial Library Board of Trustees, presented the library’s application for a U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development grant to fund small‑library capital improvements.
If awarded, the grant would cover ADA-compliant upgrades at the library: a wheelchair‑accessible bathroom, a push‑button main entrance door, and a secondary egress. Epstein credited Karen Diop for grant writing and shepherding the application and requested a Selectboard Letter of Support; the board authorized Mark Higgins to sign the letter. The Selectboard’s approval was made by motion and carried with all in favor.
The library is a town-owned facility, and the Selectboard noted that any modifications must have town approval. The motion to authorize the letter of support was moved by Mark Harley and seconded by John Brodie.
