Selectboard weighs higher transfer-station permit fee as town share rises

Selectboard members reported that West Windsor's portion of operating the Weathersfield Transfer Station will be approximately $55,000 for Fiscal Year 2027 and said they will consider raising the town's transfer-station permit fee from $75 to $95 to help offset those costs.
The board also directed staff to investigate alternative trash and recycling service options for future budget cycles to present taxpayers with choices. No final decision on fees or service changes was made at the Jan. 5 meeting.
The Selectboard framed the permit increase as one of several options to share the rising operating cost across users and taxpayers; follow-up meetings will include options and potential fiscal impacts for voters to consider as the FY27 proposal is finalized.
