Selectboard members refined a proposed Short-Term Rental (STR) Fund that would retain net revenue from annual short-term rental registrations and explicitly exclude property-tax revenue.
The fund is intended to pay for Planning Commission initiatives and, if the town establishes a Housing Commission, projects the commission may propose. The board stated that all STR Fund expenditures would require Selectboard approval.
Members discussed the possibility that, depending on future balances, the STR Fund surplus could be used to offset municipal operating expenses in later years, but no decision was made and the Selectboard said any such use would require formal approval.
The board asked staff to track STR revenues and present proposed expenditure scenarios at a future meeting before any formal establishment or spending decisions.
