Select Board weighs a potential $180,000 stabilization request for York Ambulance Association

Town Manager (speaker 7) told the Select Board York Ambulance Association has requested $180,000 in short‑term stabilization funding to continue operations through the end of the fiscal year and that no safe place exists in the approved budget for that amount. “York Ambulance has requested funding, stabilization funding from the town in the amount of $180,000 for the current fiscal year,” the manager said.

Staff said Finance Director Wendy Anderson will meet with YAA’s treasurer and office staff to prepare a short‑term financial forecast; the manager and Wendy plan to present that analysis at the board’s August 10 meeting so members can decide whether to refer a special budget question to the budget committee and, if approved, place a special budget referendum on the November ballot. Board members pressed for independent review and clear explanations of how the shortfall arose and how any town funds would be distributed.
