The Ionia Public Schools Board approved a new special education elective class for Ionia High School after a presentation by teacher Jennifer Johnson and introduction by Associate Superintendent Alicia Simons. Trustee Shippey moved for approval and Treasurer Ellis supported the motion; trustees voted 7-0 to adopt the elective.
The course was presented as a curricular addition to IHS offerings; the board's approval allows the district to add the elective to the high school schedule and proceed with staffing and curriculum implementation as appropriate.
