County staff explained prior congressional successes and the current request: "We're requesting jointly with High Valley Transit $8,000,000 for the transit center that is part of the public private partnership development here," a presenter said. The council adopted a resolution expressing support for the FY2027 request and certifying the county's willingness to provide any required matching funds.
Staff noted other potential contributors include private partner Dakota Pacific (public amenity funds) and county bonds authorized for public infrastructure; council members asked staff to ensure matching funds are consistent with the intended uses of developer contributions and bond language before allocating those dollars.
High Valley Transit indicated it would pass a companion resolution next week. Council members voted unanimously to adopt the county resolution supporting the community project funding request.
