Council OKs $245,363 engineering contract for rehab of two clear wells

Aurora aldermen approved a professional-services contract July 27 with Engineering Enterprises, Inc. for up to $245,363 to provide engineering services for rehabilitation of two clear wells (above-ground ground storage tanks) used by the Water Production Division.
Bob Iblee of the Water Production Division said the tanks were inspected previously and the work will be similar to other steel-tank rehab projects the city has completed. When asked whether water is safe for residents, Iblee responded plainly: "Absolutely safe." He added the project is funded through CIP 53 and that Engineering Enterprises Inc. had worked on the Church Road Tower and other tank projects, making them familiar with expected performance and bidding documents.
The measure passed on a 4-0 vote; staff said the consultant will produce design documents and support bidding for construction work.
