Council approves $185,443 contract for citywide pavement marking maintenance

Public Works staff told aldermen the city typically managed pavement marking as part of its right‑of‑way maintenance but opted to use the neighboring county's bid this year to reduce mobilization costs. "We decided to take part in the DuPage County Department of Transportation joint purchasing program... the low bidder for that was Precision Pavement Markings," staff said, adding the city expects cost savings though the arrangement will require more coordination with other projects. A council member asked about a 12‑inch white hatch marking at Ashland and Douglas; staff said they would follow up with the engineer and report back.
A motion to approve was made and seconded; the council voted 4-0 to award the contract.
