Lee said she had provided the city and Alderman’s offices with a comprehensive claim packet and read an excerpt of correspondence she said came from a Hesed House contact warning that pursuing complaints could have adverse consequences. “Without the voucher, I won't be able to find anywhere else that I can afford,” she said, describing the IDA voucher she said covers more than $40,000 per year for her rent.
The mayor asked staff to meet with Lee after her remarks; city staff acknowledged prior dialogue and agreed to follow up. Lee asked for the city to investigate the maintenance and potential conflict of interest she described.
