A district staff member told the board the district is preparing for facilities work and safety exercises, including a substantial roof project, a soft opening of the weight room and plans for a mock-accident drill with the county sheriff.
"We are looking at doing a substantial roof project this summer," the staff member said and noted the vendor commonly used (Tecta under Sourcewell/Omnia) may not be able to start before July 1, which could shift budget timing into a different fiscal year. The staff member also said the district had a soft opening for the weight room and is discussing fob access for community or alumni users.
On school safety, the staff member said the district and Sheriff Lohman have discussed running a mock-accident exercise in spring to ensure responders and staff are prepared. The staff member also described efforts to address exterior lighting on the crow's nest and parking areas to balance safety with energy and timing controls.
