District reports mentoring program, fundraisers and testing plans

A district staff member reported a series of school programs and operational items to the Colman-Egan School District 50-5 board, including recent fundraisers, mentoring enrollment and testing plans.
“The Super Bowl fundraiser raised $1,200 from the Moody County Breadbasket,” the staff member said, and added that students received ice-cream rewards for meeting the school’s goal. The staff member also described a new big-brother/big-sister mentoring program with 34 elementary mentees and about 20 high-school mentors getting started.
The staff member said the district is planning a date for seniors to take the National Career Readiness Certificate, is scheduling a career-development visit from an outside specialist for CTE teachers and will participate in the Kids Heart Challenge in March to promote CPR and raise funds for the American Heart Association.
