A board member urged a systematic review of district policies and proposed adding a policy on artificial intelligence, saying the district should adopt or adapt an existing template. "We really need to go through and update policies, and we really need to get an AI policy added," the board member said during discussion of policy review.
Members discussed obtaining sample policy language from ASBSD and KSB and coordinating an employee handbook with the superintendent to avoid placing contractual obligations into a handbook that conflict with negotiated agreements. One member recommended reviewing examples from neighboring districts and returning proposals at the next meeting for formal consideration.
Separately, the board noted a new July requirement: distribution of the Open Meetings Law brochure must be recorded in the minutes and the brochure presented to board members; the clerk will ensure the brochure is included in the July packet and noted in the minutes.
