District considers low-cost AM supervision and free sixth-grade after-school option for working families

He also proposed a free sixth-grade after-school program from roughly 2:30 to 4:30 p.m., housed at the middle school, to support families with working caregivers, noting the district's family counseling center and Mental Health Association resources could be leveraged for free afternoon programming.
Board members were invited to provide feedback on cost, staffing and scheduling; the superintendent said the district is seeking staff willing to run the program and would adjust plans based on participation and available personnel.
