City Clerk Jodi Wade reviewed 2018 revenues and the projected 2019 budget, noting shortfalls in ad valorem and sales taxes that require monitoring. After reviewing salary budget scenarios for nine full-time and one part-time employee, the council voted to approve a 2.5% COLA for employees effective the next payroll.
The council held multiple budget workshops through the summer and published the 2020 budget after a public hearing in August. At year-end, council approved transfers of excess General Fund proceeds with a plan to allocate funds to Fire capital improvements and split remaining excess funds between the capital-improvement and equipment reserve funds. Council emphasized careful monitoring of revenue trends moving into 2020.
